Dublin footballers David Byrne and Hannah Tyrrell, hurler Chris Crummey and camogie player Muireann Kelleher were on hand today to mark the Dubs’ involvement in the 2021 All-Ireland Championship season.
Interest in this year’s All-Ireland Championships across all four codes is sky high, with anticipation for the business end of the season building week-on-week as fans start to make their way back to stadiums in significant numbers after 18 months of games being played largely behind closed doors.
Dublin Hurlers made the Leinster final and look forward to an All-Ireland quarter final soon, while the Dublin camogie team kickstarted their Senior All-Ireland Championship quest against Cork at the weekend and next up for them are Waterford. Dublin’s two senior football teams are on a mission to retain their All-Ireland crown – the ladies going for five in-a-row and the men driving for an unprecedented seven back-to-back Sam Maguire wins.
Commenting on the launch, Aidan Connaughton, General Manager at AIG Ireland said; “Ireland has been through some exceptionally tough times over the past year and-a-half and Gaelic Games can lift the mood of the people and are a wonderful for the way to bring people of all ages and communities together to cheer on their local county heroes in a safe and family friendly way. Like everyone else, all of us at AIG are looking forward to the big games that are coming up over the next few months and we are delighted that all four Dublin senior men’s and women’s teams are still in contention for honours this season .
“As proud sponsors of Dublin GAA, AIG wishes the Dublin teams and management the best for the 2021 Championship. Thanks to David, Hannah, Muireann and Chris for joining us today, and we wish them all the best for the season ahead!”
