It was another exciting day in the penultimate round of polls to determine the 2020 SportsDaz Camogie Team of the Year as the remaining contenders were reduced to 32 and they’ll all contest tomorrow’s Final.
The goalkeepers were reduced from 8 to 4; the midfielders also dropped from 8 to 4; and the forwards where whittled down from 24 to 12.

GOALKEEPERS (Semi-Finals) – Tipperary’s Áine Slattery topped the poll with 43.7% followed by Cork’s Amy Lee, Kilkenny’s Aoife Norris and Waterford’s Brianna O’Regan.
That means Cork, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford will be represented in the Final.
Among the shock eliminations were Down’s Catherine McGourty and Galway’s Sarah Healy.
==
MIDFIELDERS (Semi-Finals) – Kildare’s Niamh Hegarty topped the poll with 32.6% followed by Roscommon’s Rachel Fitzmaurice, Cork’s Chloe Sigerson and Down’s Paula O’Hagan.
That means Cork, Down, Kildare and Roscommon will be represented in the Final.
Among the shock eliminations were Cork’s Ashling Thompson and Galway’s Niamh Kilkenny.

FORWARDS (Semi-Finals) – Cork’s Amy O’Connor topped the poll with 43.9% followed by Wexford’s Joanne Dillon and Down duo Sorcha McCartan and Niamh Mallon.
Down lead with four finalists; followed by Wexford with three; Cork have two; while Kildare, Kilkenny and Waterford are also represented.
Wexford’s Shelley Kehoe and Armagh’s Leanne Donnelly both finished on 22.3%. Therefore, their quarter-final results were used to separate them. Shelley qualifies with 39.9% ahead of Leanne’s score of 30.4%.
Among the shock eliminations are Armagh’s Leanne Donnelly (only by count back), Tipperary’s Cáit Devane, Kilkenny’s Miriam Walsh and Meath’s Megan Thynne.

There will be eight polls on Friday with four players in each (1×4 Goalkeepers, 3×4 Defenders, 1×4 Midfielders, and 3×4 Forwards)
Unlike previous rounds where the overall score across all polls in each section counted, this time it’s a straight shoot-out.
The top goalkeeper makes the team, the top two midfielders make the team, and the top two in each of the defenders and forwards polls make the team.
Should there be a tie, the semi-final results will be used to separate contenders. And if still level, the quarter-final results!
So keep an eye out on twitter and make your vote count one last time on Friday when we select the 2020 SportsDaz Camogie Team of the Year.
