FOOTBALL: 2021 SportsDaz Team of the Year – Day 1 Results

Meath’s Mary Kate Lynch topped the poll with 65.2% in her quarter-final followed by team mate Aoibheann Leahy (59.5%) and Antrim’s Orla Corr (56.7%).

Meath secured semi-final sports for all six defenders with Cork coming next with four qualifiers.  Derry took three spots; Dublin and Wexford got two; with Antrim, Galway, Limerick, Roscommon, Sligo, Westmeath and Wicklow also advancing.

Among the shock eliminations were Wicklow duo Aoife Gillen and Sarah Jane Winders, Westmeath’s Tara Fagan and Cork’s Marie Ambrose.

The defenders are back in action on Wednesday (13th October) on twitter when the 24 remaining are whittled down to 12.

Keep an eye out on twitter on Tuesday (today) as the 48 forwards begin their campaign in their respective quarter-finals.
