Day 2 of the 2021 SportsDaz Football Team of the Year is over with plenty of surprises and intriguing results as the 48 forwards were cut down to 24. (Day 2 Poll Toppers (l-r) – Aimee Mackin, Vikki Wall, Cathy Carey)

Meath’s Vikki Wall topped the pool with 75.5% in her quarter-final and she was followed by Armagh’s Aimee Mackin (57.6%) and Antrim’s Cathy Carey (57.1%).

Meath and Westmeath came top with four qualifiers each for the semi-finals; one ahead of Antrim and Dublin with three each.

Cork secured two slots into the next round; Armagh, Clare, Derry, Donegal, Galway, Laois, Monaghan and Wicklow also enjoyed success.

Among the shock eliminations were Dublin’s Hannah Tyrell, Westmeath’s Anna Jones, Wicklow’s Marie Kealy and Carlow’s Cliodhna Ni She.

The forwards are back in action again on Thursday (14th October) on twitter when the 24 remaining are whittled down to 12.

Keep an eye out on twitter on Wednesday (today) for the midfield quarter-finals (16 become 8) and the defender semi-finals (24 become 12).
