FOOTBALL: 2021 SportsDaz Team of the Year – Day 3 Results
Day Three of the 2021 SportsDaz Football Team of the Year continues to throw up some big results as the remaining 72 contenders were reduced to 52. (Day 3 Poll Toppers (l-r) – Ciara Brown, Orla Corr and Aoibhín Cleary)
The midfielders began their campaign as the 16 nominees were cut to 8; while it was semi-finals day for the defenders with the 24 starters now down to 12 remaining.

Antrim’s Ciara Brown topped the poll in the midfield category with (55.1%) followed by Sligo’s Sarah Reynolds (48.9%) and Meath’s Orlagh Lally (46.2%).
Meath have two midfielders into the semi-finals; while Antrim, Clare, Dublin, Kildare, Limerick and Sligo are also represented.
Among the shock eliminations were Dublin’s Lauren Magee, Armagh’s Caroline O’Hanlon, Cork’s Hannah Looney and Mayo’s Sinead Cafferky.

Antrim’s Orla Corr topped the poll in the defenders category with 55.5%, ahead of Meath’s Aoibhin Cleary (51.4%) and Sligo’s Lauren Boles (47.6%).
Meath came top with five qualifiers reaching the final; ahead of Derry who saw two advance.
Antrim, Limerick, Roscommon, Sligo and Wexford will also be represented in the decider.
Among the shock eliminations wer Cork’s Melissa Duggan, Meath’s Katie Newe, Dublin’s Martha Byrne and Galway’s Nicola Ward.

The midfielders are back in action again on Thursday (today) on twitter with the semi-finals reducing the eight qualifiers to four.
For the defenders, 12 have reached the final and will battle for the six team slots on Friday (15th October).
