PODCAST: SportsDaz Camogie (Thursday, 28th July 2022)
Darren Kelly and Killian Whelan present magazine show looking at the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie championships.
Schedule:
- 0:00 – Latest News
- 23:45 – Review – Intermediate and Premier Junior Semi-Finals
- 48:35 – Cork 0-15 Waterford 0-10 (Senior Semi-Final)
- 1:06:25 – Kilkenny 1-13 Galway 0-12 (Senior Semi-Final)
Darren and Killian look at the main talking points including no camogie on ‘The Sunday Game’; should there be a separate highlights show?; under 16 camogie finals going up against ladies football finals in Croke Park; and is enough being done to promote the games?
It’s more a review show this week starting with the intermediate and premier junior semi-finals. Galway’s young guns impress while Cork’s intermediates prove their metal. Jennifer Curry (O’Leary) rolls back the years even if Armagh must do more. And Antrim and Clare throw up a dramatic, classic contest that proves how strong the game is at playing level.
Waterford came up just short in their quest for a first All-Ireland Final appearance in 77 years but proved they have the potential to match the big teams. The Aisling Thompson saga dragging out is something the game can do without but what a performance after her introduction as Cork leave it late before getting back into the All-Ireland senior final.
And finally, the All-Ireland champions are out! Galway come up short agianst a hungry Kilkenny team that left everything on the field. Are the Cats being underestimated as they are the only unbeaten team left this year? How come Galway couldn’t stick with them? And should there have been more punishments for incidents surrounding Galway’s first half penalty?
