PODCAST: SportsDaz Camogie (Thursday, 7th July 2022)
Darren Kelly and Killian Whelan present the magazine show looking at the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie championships.
Schedule:
- 2:40 – Emma Martin (Harpist & Singer)
- 14:20 – Sarah’s Song (I gconaí ann)
- 17:40 – Latest News
- 49:35 – Previews – Intermediate quarter-finals – Derry vs Dublin, Kerry vs Meath
We have a very special guest this week as Harpist and singer Emma Martin joins us as we remember her friend Sarah Carty who passed away in January 2020 from a rare form of cancer at just 28 years old. Sarah was a passionate camogie fan and they met playing the game together in Donegal.
Emma wrote a beautiful song in Sarah’s memory and also to raise funds for ‘First Descents’ a life-changing outdoor activities organisation for young adults with cancer and serious health conditions. The song was launched last Saturday at The Ferryman pub in Dublin last Saturday.

Also on the show, we discuss the main talking points including Bill Mullaney stepping down as Tipperary manager, could it be a costly final round defeat for Cork with no Orla Cronin and an Ashling Thompson red card, what’s going on in Westmeath as they quietly exit the intermediate championship following a points deduction, and we stand behind Ursula Jacob and call out the begrudgers and cowards who use social media as a form of bullying!
Finally, we preview this Saturday’s double header in Portlaoise in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland intermediate quarter-finals. Derry take on Dublin at 1.30pm, followed by Kerry meeting Meath at 4pm.
