PODCAST: SportsDaz Football (Wednesday, 11th May 2022)
Darren Kelly and Niamh Kindlon present the football magazine show looking at the provincial championships.
Schedule:
- 0:00 – Latest News inc. Meath 1-8 Dublin 0-10, Vikki Wall, AFLW & LGFA
- 36:55 – Galway vs Mayo (Connacht Football Final Preview)
- 55:05 – Waterford vs Cork (Munster Football Semi-Final Preview)
Darren and Niamh look back at the week’s big talking points including Saturday night’s clash in Parnell Park between Meath and Dublin. Certainly an exciting game even if not as good as some commentators hyped it up to be. There was still plenty of big moments including refereeing decisions, kick outs, systems, potential yellow cards and two stand out performances.
LGFA players going to AFLW is becoming a weekly news event and this week, womens.afl reported that Vikki Wall is heading to North Melbourne. While nothing has been officially confirmed from the Meath camp, we look at the new start time of August in Australia and how it’s effecting the players gone over. Only three of the 2022 class will represent their counties this year!
Mayo are the worst hit with only Rachel Kearns likely to be involved in this Sunday’s Connacht Final against Galway. We look ahead to Sunday’s tie (4pm Tuam Stadium) with uncertainty surrounding both counties. Though the Tribeswomen do have the Kilkerrin/Clonberne contingent to return.
And we finish up with a trip to Dungarvan (Sunday 2pm) for the Munster semi-final between Waterford and Cork. It’s strange to say that the Rebelettes are coming in under the radar and are missing several key names. Can Waterford finally realise their potential and pull off a massive result that could set up their season?
