PODCAST: The Third Half (Tuesday, 21st June 2022)

Darren Kelly and Niamh Kindlon review the live TG4 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship games from Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford on Sunday.

Schedule:

  • 0:00 – Latest News
  • 19:10 – Armagh 0-9 Meath 0-9
  • 42:10 – Mayo 0-16 Cavan 2-9 (15)

Among the news items are Armagh’s Kelly Mallon winning Croke Park/LGFA player of the month for May; Cora Staunton and Brid Stack are heading back to Australia with Greater Western Sydney Giants; a run through of all the results; and could the GAA have avoided clashing with Cavan’s LGFA match against Mayo.

We start with the All-Ireland champions Meath and their comeback against Armagh.  Could have a few yellow cards have been shown?  They’re definitely was talking points.  A tight physical battle where defences gave away nothing easy, we still were treated to some breathtaking scores by both teams.

And we look back at Cavan’s stunning comeback against Mayo and how the Connacht side held their nerve to get the winner.  Despite missing many big names, the green and red did a lot of good things but how did they let an eight-point slip?  And how did Cavan give them a head start in the first place?
